[00:00:50] Mama, we made it. It started from a podcast. Now we're here. What's up, everybody? How's everybody feeling today? How's it going? Welcome to Push The Roll with Ross Bryant live. I am Ross Bryant. We are going to be performing for you. Please make some noise if you have ever listened to our podcast or something that I can say now seen our show before. Make some noise if you know us. Incredible. Thank you so much. Please make some noise if you've never experienced the show before.

[00:01:28] Let's go! Awesome. Thank you so much for coming sight unseen and ears unheard. For those of you in that second group, Push The Roll is a podcast where friends of mine and I improvise Call of Cthulhu scenarios in real time inspired by suggestions of titles that we get from our Patreon subscribers. Today we'll be getting a title from you right out there in the audience when I come to you to just shout it out. We make it all up on the spot. Nothing is pre-planned, pre-rehearsed, or pre-written.

[00:01:56] So I luckily do not do all of that alone because I'm joined by some absolute number one stunners on the stage today to help me do this. Please give it up for my dexterous right hand. It is Corbin Cup, the producer of the show. I have emerged from my editing cave to prove I am a real person. Yes.

[00:02:25] I'm so honored to be working with real professionals. Hey, don't talk about my friend like that. Yes, Corbin has graciously removed himself from his troll-like editing cavern to join us here on stage in front of all of you. But we're also joined by the wonderful transcontinental Josephine McAdam. Hello, hello.

[00:02:52] How did we speak transcontinentally in back in the day? That's it. That's it. Hello. I'm so pleased, gosh darn pleased to be here. Yeah. She's transcontinental or mid-Atlantic, however you like it. It's the Catherine Hepburn of actual play podcasts. Josephine McAdam. We are also joined by absolute nerd legend, Amy Vorpahl.

[00:03:28] I'm so happy to be here. I normally introduce myself as I'm a D&D person, but today I'm a Call of Cthulhu person. That's right. That's right. Get those hit points out of here. Yeah, we're very, very frail and fragile this morning. But someone who's not frail and fragile. Someone who's an absolute beefcake.

[00:03:56] 200 pounds of corded muscle. And podcasting and comedy acumen. It's Sydney Emanuel. Let's go! What would you guys do if I just stood on the table and did like a stage dive and like elbowed into the crowd? Yeah. Later today, Sydney will be ripping a telephone book in half using the power of Christ.

[00:04:22] But today and this morning, we'll be doing this dang old improvised show. So in order to get us started for our rather unsettling tale, all I need is the suggestion of a title of a scenario that we've never done before. So I'm just going to come out to you, the audience, to just shout something out. Shout out a title right now if you're so inspired. What was this? Miskatonic Spring Break.

[00:04:53] Okay. All right. I got it. What I heard was Miskatonic Spring Break. Miskatonic Spring Break. Thank you so much for that amazing title. So Miskatonic Spring Break. Now, we've already heard the applause out there that some people have not experienced this show before. It may be that some people have not experienced Call of Cthulhu before.

[00:05:20] Or perhaps even the works of certified dang-ass freak H.P. Lovecraft. A person who we hope to make revolve rapidly in his grave with what we do today. But, yeah. But Miskatonic University is a canonical university in the works of H.P. Lovecraft. It's sort of a haunted and uncanny campus in Arkham, Massachusetts. So that, of course, is evoked by this title. But then, of course, Spring Break.

[00:05:49] Were any of you big Spring Break people? Okay, wait. I just have to say I don't know much about Call of Cthulhu. So I thought I heard Puxatoni and, like, so if we don't do a groundhog, I don't know. Okay. We said Miskatonic. You heard Puxatoni. Yeah. There is a Puxatoni Phil, of course, is the groundhog that lets you know whether Spring is coming. But Miskatonic Phil. Miskatonic Phil.

[00:06:17] Has other prophecies to tell you. And Spring in Puxatoni starts in August. Yeah. Okay, Amy, this is kind of amazing. But maybe there is a world where this is like a very different sort of groundhog day. Yeah. Do any of you have any other sort of associations with Spring Break? Florida. I mean, in the States, I feel like it's Florida. It's, what is it, Maryland. Like, you go to the beach, Virginia Beach.

[00:06:47] Ocean City. Ocean City. I do. Corpus Christi. I do have a. The shores of Innsmouth. Visit beautiful Innsmouth. I do have a little story. When I turned 21, I went to Cancun with my family for Spring Break. And I have three sisters. And we were all kind of ready to party. And we go. That's not where you go with your family, I just want to say. So we go to one of the bars. And, like, I've got a twin sister and a sister one year younger than me.

[00:07:17] And we're like, okay, let's, like, meet some locals, you know. And we go to this bar. And the music's pumping. And we're, like, going to get out on the dance floor. And over in the corner, we see my dad alone nursing a beer. And it was just one of those, like, complete buzzkills where we're like, this is not going to be our night. Like, we can take as many shots of tequila as we want, and we are not going to be dancing with anybody. Oh, yeah. Nothing kills the Spring Break vibe like witnessing your father going through an existential crisis.

[00:07:47] Should we be a family? Oh. Oh. Spring Break family. Just as long as you know I'll be a drifter. All right. So we've got our dad cast. And with that, perhaps, Sydney, anything coming up for you? If it's Miskatonic Spring Break, where would you spring break, like, locally near Massachusetts? Like, maybe they don't travel far. Maybe it's, like, somewhere nearby. Maybe it's not Florida. Cape Cod? Did somebody say Delaware?

[00:08:18] Hell yes. Fighting blue hens. New Jersey. Just, like, name a state. Thank you, dear audience, for naming the states of New England. And we'll... They were concerned I didn't know. Yeah. But, yes, I can already see it. I can already see it. A little family vehicle moving inexorably towards a coastline where springtime fun awaits. And with that, hey, sing along if you know it.

[00:08:46] The cosmos is a cyclopean infinity of chaos. Infinite branching paths stretching off to vistas in the distance that will drive the mind mad. Shall we shrink in the face of all this? Or will we climb aboard the chaos and ride it to the end, letting chance guide the way? This is Push the Roll. We're rolling dice. Well, we're actually just talking to people in the audience. To create improvised Call of Cthulhu sessions in real time.

[00:09:14] With themes of eldritch horror, the weird, the transhuman, the transmundane, the cyberpunk, the splatterpunk, the anything punk. We don't know until we roll. Anytime, anyplace. Anything can happen. When you push the roll. All right. So, are we a family or what? Are we a family?

[00:09:41] Or is this like an 80s spring break movie where you're all members of the same sorority? Oh. Yeah. Yeah, let's do sorority. Yeah, I think sorority. But wait, are we in a different era? Are we doing Victoria? We haven't decided that. Oh, yeah. I mean, we could be. I will say that to me, spring break kind of evokes, mostly because I experience spring break culturally through the lens of those 80s teen comedies. That's sort of where it lives in my mind.

[00:10:11] But, I mean, maybe it is Victorian. Yeah. Maybe you're in a horse-drawn buggy on your way to the coast to take the vapor in a bathing suit that covers you from neck to toe. Just watching Josephine rifle through a character, she's panicked with me. What do you think? Do you think this is kind of contemporary-ish or maybe further back in the past?

[00:10:39] Everything I know about spring break came from MTV. Yeah. That's what I'm thinking. Oh, MTV spring break. Yeah. So what do you say? Why don't we make this kind of like 80s, 90s? 80s. Great. 80s. This is the 80s. That's the decade I remember. 80s spring break. Totally tubular. All right. So we've got a couple of ideas out on the table. Maybe you're a family. Maybe you're a bunch of college students. I said fraternity, sorority. I don't know. That's not going to be true.

[00:11:09] Yeah. I mean, sororities are a trope of horror fiction also. So. Yeah. Yeah. I really like the sorority idea. And one of these character sheets caught my eye because it has the same name as me. I see Pastor Sidney Walker. Pastor? Now hear me out. Their occupation is zealot.

[00:11:34] Now, what is more zealot-y than being like the lead head queen bee of a sorority? Yes. So maybe not pastor, but maybe big sis. Oh, or president. Okay. Do they have presidents? Okay. I'm getting head nods. I'm getting loud yeses. Do we know nothing about sororities? Are we going into this? Because I don't. Are you saying that this isn't a panel that has a deep relationship with Greek life?

[00:12:04] Shocking. Simply shocking. I will say that I was a member of Alpha Psi Omega. Oh. Calm down. It's a dramatic honors fraternity. Okay. But great. I love Sidney. I'm thinking Sidney. Yeah. Sidney. We'll play Sidney. It's easy. A zealot. A zealot and passionate devotee of the sorority itself. But maybe also, do you think this is like a churchgoer?

[00:12:33] Like a good girl stretching out? Yeah. Yeah. I think it's like big J. Capital J. I think she doesn't drink. The sorority is a dry sorority. Oh. I need a different character sheet. You're mad? You're mad at her? It sounds like based upon. Now, look. We can't let every choice be dictated by these freaks.

[00:13:01] But I do like the idea that the sorority is maybe not dry, but you're doing your damnedest to make it. Yes. As president, I'm trying to change that. But I think that's an interesting thing with the spring break because she's going to be real conflicted. That's right. Yeah. College is a time where we all kind of experiment with ourselves.

[00:13:21] And spring break are these hyper-condensed and distilled moments of transformation where we get to kind of step out and then try on new identities, have new experiences like drinking a wine cooler. I could never. Yeah. Amy, anything coming into focus for you? Well, in classic form, I'm undecided. But I have a strong desire, I think, to play a cuck. Okay? Excuse me? Yeah.

[00:13:49] You heard me. You heard me. Do you want to sit in a chair kind of over there? I want y'all to have a good time. So I either want to be the assistant to the president, so there's dilettante, or the boyfriend who has to go on this trip because he wants to go on his big game hunting spree,

[00:14:16] but instead is going to this vacation with his girlfriend. So, yeah, I don't know. I guess that's... I have to decide. Is it either you're, like, the vice president or Sydney's boyfriend? Is it all for Sydney? Or somebody's boyfriend? Oh, I think it's just somebody's boyfriend. Yeah, hear out the other characters. I mean, we haven't met who else is in the sorority, so... All right, let's decide. Yeah, I don't know. I think I'm going to have to hear some other people.

[00:14:45] Yeah, yeah. Great. You don't have to let perfect be the enemy of the good. You just make a... I'm curious to hear whether it's a teen big game hunter or this other one. But, yeah, Josephine. Okay, great. Cup. Cup, what sorority girl are you playing? I found one of our famous character sheets, the pharmacist. And we'll use that loosely for the sorority.

[00:15:15] Of course. Maybe the supplier. And I'm going to use the character name on the sheet, which is just Wendy. Wendy the pharmacist. Okay. Wendy can get you anything you need. Yes. Mostly weed or meth. Okay. Okay, so we're creating a spectrum between Sydney and Wendy. We have... We have...

[00:15:42] Yes, we have a cosseted church girl and an absolute psychonaut. Yeah, Josephine. Sydney, do you think you have like an older sister who's maybe making you want to curb the partying? Oh, are you in the sorority? Yeah. That's interesting. Yeah. I've been in. You've seen how it's changed me. You've been in for how long? Did you get help back? I won't leave.

[00:16:13] You're like John Belushi in Animal House. You're like 33 in the sorority. I haven't come home in years. No, I like this. I like this. How much older do you think? I don't know, like maybe five years? Okay, so enough. So enough. Okay, okay, four years? No, no, five. Five years. Yeah, you're still... Five years older. Okay. So you're like 19 and you're like 24 in the... Or something like that? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:16:43] Yeah, 24. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sounds good. But you're like deep into the sorority life and perhaps of not... Yes. You're like a sixth year senior. I'll take the actor-actress sheet. Great. And maybe I'm just doing a deep character study. That's what I say. Yep. Okay, and y'all are in the same family. You're my best customer, I assume. Oh, yeah. And is that the dynamic that you're saying that you're sort of like bought in on the party

[00:17:10] life and you're trying to get your sister out of their shell? Oh, yeah. We sound really different. I'm not going to do that. Okay, Amy. Okay, as it turns out, okay, I'm not going to be a cook. I'm going to be... I am... We'll see about that. Yes, just like the Batman does not exist without the Joker. A cuck does not exist without the cucky.

[00:17:38] So I will be... Actually, I will be in the sorority. And I'm going to be... I am going to be a party girl, okay? I'm ready. And I also am a big game hunter. Awesome. So I do have expectations on this trip and I'm packing. Okay. So Wendy has like a bag full of pills. You have a Bible. You have an elephant gun.

[00:18:10] Okay. It's amazing. Okay. Wow. Do we have a last name, Sydney? Walker. Walker? Yeah. And what was your name? Um, let's say Willow. Willow. Willow Walker. Willow Walker. Wow. Willow Walker is a half-elf druid. I love it. Sydney Walker and Willow Walker, sisters. Both members of Tri-Delt Sorority.

[00:18:40] This being Push the Roll, the Delta is a triangle. And to have three Deltas is just like triangles incepted upon triangles. The most malevolent shape. So you're all members of Tri-Delt. Delta, Delta, Delta. Delta at Miskatonic University. But March is upon you. And, uh, you are racing to the coast.

[00:19:07] To, to the beautiful, um, the beautiful, uh, sunny spots on the New England coastline. Yeah. Is there, is there a particular spot that you would have chosen, you think? I think Delaware. Yeah. Fuck yes. Yeah. This is my time, baby. I'm from Delaware. I'll be testing you on your geography. Oh, great. Um, well, speaking as yourself, Cup, is there somewhere where, on the, on Delaware, where

[00:19:36] like, uh, certified party dudes and party babes would go to like blow off some steam? Oh, Rehoboth Beach. Absolutely. What was it called? Rehoboth Beach? Rehoboth? Yes. That, I mean, that, that sounds very Lovecraftian. It's a less crowded Ocean City. Rehoboth. Rehoboth? Rehoboth Beach. What a collection of syllables that is. Uh, Rehoboth Beach. Amazing. Rehoboth Beach.

[00:20:05] All right. Um, Miskatonic Spring Break. And I know all the bowling alleys in Delaware, if you need them. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. Is, is that far enough north to where they do Candlepin or? Oh, no. Okay. It's Tempin. All right. Great. You mentioned, uh, okay. Can you tell me, like, the coastline of Delaware, like, what are we dealing with here? Is this sandy dunes, forests? It's sandy and small.

[00:20:36] Okay. And swamp, you said? There's some attempted boardwalks, so you could get some pulled taffy. I mean, it's kind of, imagine Atlantic City if it was like 100th the size. With no gambling and less fun. I mean, do we like, we like campfires on the beach? Oh, yeah, of course. Bonfires. Bonfires? Oh, yeah. Okay. All right. I was never really invited. You know, I've heard about these things. I don't do well in the sun. Great.

[00:21:05] Um, we've all experienced, uh, Spring Break in our minds. And today is no different. All right. See the sun suspended in the sky. Sort of dipping in the west and casting its, like, cherry red glow over the atmosphere.

[00:21:32] And those fire red ripples spread out over the Atlantic. And then see that orb of the sun mirrored in a beach ball. Boom! Lofted into the air over the net of a volleyball net. Back and forth. And then pop the pop of a beer bottle as the cap goes sailing through the air like suds go flying onto the t-shirt of a young woman who's like, Trevor, no!

[00:21:59] Um, see a bicycle built for two going along. A, uh, a boardwalk bumping along. See a souvenir stand hanging with, uh, postcards and t-shirts. One has, uh, an arrow pointing up that says, The Man. And an arrow pointing down that says, The Legend. Uh, go, uh, keep cruising. We hear music blasting out of a bar. 80s music. Um, let's say, let's say it's, uh, Wang Chung.

[00:22:28] Like, uh, we keep pushing through, pushing through. Seeing, uh, again, this, this orb kind of, kind of recurring again and again. Another ball, uh, is passed hand to hand. A piece of fruit is rolled across the tabletop to someone who crushes it into against a juicer, juicing out its insides and shaking up a margarita. And then a ball with three holes in it. It's a bowling ball sailing down an alley. Crack! The pins go, uh, skittering across the bowling alley.

[00:22:57] And then we see, right there, having just thrown the ball down the alley at the, uh, at the Rehoboth Beach bowl-o-rama. It's Wendy. Can you give me a dexterity roll to see how well you, uh, just bowled? Oh, wow. That's a 72. My bowl is 80. No, I have a, I have a 75 dex. Holy shit. It's because my pal's 25.

[00:23:27] Um, so you, so that, but you rolled a seven. That's a regular success. That's like a stone 10 pin, nine pins down. Great, great, great. You see, you see the pins, like, scatter, uh, and, and, and fall. All over, but one tips and then rocks back upright as if all the others had been destroyed. And one final girl remained there standing unslayed for the moment.

[00:23:55] And as your ball returns, uh, after your first, your first one was a gutter ball, alas. And you can, then you can pencil in your, your, your score on your sheet. The rest of you see a group of guys, uh, two lanes away, also kind of like, uh, sipping beers and occasionally like shooting glances over at you. One of them has like a bleach blonde hair cascading over his head. He's got one of those cutoff shirts where like, it's been snipped into ribbons at the bottom, sort of dangling over his, uh, midsection.

[00:24:26] That's a slutty little tub. Yeah, I'm, I'm Mizzou. What? What's your name again? I'm Mizzou. Mizzou. Your name is Mizzou? Like the school? Yeah.

[00:24:57] Amy, I don't doubt that you wrote it down. But why? No, no. No, I kid, I kid, of course. There's also another name there. Yes, your name's Mizzou. It's fine and normal. I shouldn't pass judgment. In my head, I mean, I'm a big game hunter, so I imagine I'm from the South and I don't, I don't know why. Okay, so. It's fine, yes, you're a big game hunter.

[00:25:27] You look, you look across and you, you say that about the slutty little top. And it's as though you see through your eyes for a moment in this, in this, uh, this young man who kind of looks, like shoots a glance back at you as his, uh, his blue bowling ball like sits in his hand. It's as though you're viewing him through crosshairs. This kind of just gives you a little wink and then sends his ball down, down the alley. Mizzou. What? It's your turn.

[00:25:53] Oh, well, yeah, I guess, um, and you left with one pin standing. Well. But that was my second ball, so it's your turn now. It'll reset. Okay. Okay. Well, now that I know how bowling works, um. And we all know that my, that my name is based on my last name. It's a nickname. Sure. Yep. Take your turn. Some of us haven't bowled in a while. This is your other sorority sister. Her name's Auburn.

[00:26:27] All right. All right. Look, these pins, these pins don't even know what's coming. The wrath of Mizzou is coming. Here we go. My first attack. I mean. Let's get into the action economy of bowling. Yes. Your first attack. Christ. A 60. Oh, no. A 65 over a 63. Great. You're 65 over 63.

[00:26:55] Not a catastrophic failure, but your ball arcs to the left and thumps into the gutter. And I say, looks like I need a big, strong man to help me out. And I look over. I look over. I also wink at Blondie. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you wink at him. He wakes back.

[00:27:24] He's like, oh. But he, of course, is seeing this little tableau. He's just sort of like, his smile is kind of turning to like, huh? For the youngsters, this is how flirting worked in the 80s. God, no phones. People just living in the moment. And yes, a moment has clearly happened here. Are you going to help her? Go help her. She needs help bowling. Blondie.

[00:27:53] Why do you call at the other lane, guys? We have a game. Why are we all walking to the other lane? Willow. I'm with Sydney. We should be focusing on our own game, says Auburn. Thank you, Auburn. My best friend. Thank you, Sydney. My best friend. They do their secret handshake. But Blondie has already approached.

[00:28:22] And Mizzou is sitting at 5'2", about 105 pounds, and just is a tiny little firecracker. He just kind of walks up, like puts his forearm up on a little divider between the lanes, and looks at your ball kind of rolling back after the pin jockey is sent it back. And he's just like, oh, tough break. Distracted? I like Audis. And I point out.

[00:28:55] His belly button. Yeah, I know. As a matter of fact, the tassels on his cutoff shirt are decidedly forked. Around an Audi belly button that protrudes to an uncommon length.

[00:29:25] He's like, oh, you noticed that, huh? He gives it a little flick. It sort of wobbles like one of those door stoppers embedded in the bottom of the... To keep the door from knocking a hole in the wall with the knob. And you can hear an audible... It was kind of hard to miss.

[00:29:51] I guess you saw the way that I barely knocked any pins down. Well, hey. Arini, what are you... I realize... Look, I realize this sounds like kind of a loaded question, but I am just curious about your self-presentation. How are you dressed? Oh, yeah. Okay, so yeah. A tiny little girl. She's got cutoff jeans by the knees and just a tank top with an enormous tiger on it.

[00:30:17] But, yeah, I think she was probably like a cheerleader in another life because her parents made her. And she's like, yeah, she's very strong. Awesome. Like a gymnast. Great. Wow. Well, if you want to have a good time, maybe just a little more low-key than around here. Some of us guys are doing a bonfire tonight at the Kappa house. Oh, my God.

[00:30:44] Me and the other Kappas rented a house on Rehoboth Beach. We're on South Rehoboth. It's Seagull Cove. Oh, my God. Well, yeah, I mean, me and my girls would totally be down for a party. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Thank you so... Thank you. Thank you so much for the invitation. We will be sure to RSVP as soon as possible. Thank you. We do have a game to get back to, though. Apologies. Wait, what's your name? Keith. I'm a zoo.

[00:31:14] What? We'll bring drugs. One of the other Kappas kind of swivels around Keith. He has... In the 80s, there were still folks who kind of affected like a Led Zeppelin-y sort of look. And this kid has like... He's clearly been trying to grow a mustache for like eight months,

[00:31:42] but it's only taken like on the sides. And there's like a little... There's a little headband going on. He's got some sort of like a Matthew McConaughey energy. And he's like, I heard the magic word. What's going on? Since you described yourself, Wendy is dressed like a skater, wearing an anthrax t-shirt, torn stonewashed jeans, Converse. She's awesome.

[00:32:07] Yeah, she's going to be like, yeah, we stopped in Dover at the Air Force base and picked up some Dover drops. It's something new. Wow, what a specific geographical reference. Yeah, don't worry about what they do at that Air Force base. And what's your name? Willow is wearing a hot pink spandex onesie. This is an 80s movie after all.

[00:32:37] Yeah, and throughout this entire scene, we can still see the credits kind of rolling of our 80s movie as all of these are sort of... These interactions are taking place. So you're in a hot pink onesie. High ponytail, bleach blonde, long straight hair. They call me Stoney. Stoney. I'm Willow. We're definitely going to be there tonight, right, Wendy? And we're bringing so much stuff. All the drugs. All the drugs.

[00:33:06] All the drugs. I've tried them all and they're all really good. You tried them all? All of them. Yeah, yeah. Well, you bring those Dover drops and maybe we can add one more to the list and you and I can watch the sun come up. We hear the straw in a now empty Coca-Cola bottle

[00:33:38] as Sydney is just watching, gripping it. And Sydney has long blonde hair just like her sister Willow, but it's pinned back in a big bow and she's wearing like a shoulder padded sundress almost to the ankles and little ballet flats. My turn! Make a spot hidden for me. You're the only one who seems to not be chattering with one of the Kappas. Spot hidden. Yeah. Let's see what my spot hidden is. Ooh.

[00:34:06] That's going to be a regular success. 31 under 45. Everyone else is chattering and you're like, I'm trying to focus up. You can see kind of Auburn like stabbing at a maraschino cherry in her Shirley Temple nearby. But as your eyes look up, you can see like there's a bunch of other kind of college age folks here crowding in sort of pre-gaming before a fun night out on Rehoboth. But you also see that there is, there's someone watching you.

[00:34:34] over by a Camelot themed pinball machine. His face illuminated in the glow of the, of the bumpers kind of alternating red, green, red, green. You'd see a man just kind of like in a rain jacket with a like five o'clock shadow and hair sort of dangling over his eyes, just watching you.

[00:35:07] She continues to like sip her soda, blinks, looks away for a moment, looks back. He's gone. Roll sanity for me. You would be shocked to know that Sydney has pretty low sanity to begin with. I designed that character after you. It bounced so three, a three.

[00:35:36] I rolled a zero and a three thing. Wow. So bouncing. No. What I can only assume is an extreme success. You take no sanity loss, just an uncanny situation. You looked away for a moment, whoever this stranger was, they just kind of disappeared into the, into the crowd. Certainly. She blinks and she thinks, someone needed my help. And I couldn't get there fast enough.

[00:36:04] I will pray about this. Tonight. And not go to any parties. And she puts it back down. Are they still talking? Boy, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. All right. All right. We're all doing that now. Yes. Oh, wow. Great. Great. Everyone's taking turns on Keith's Audi. Yeah.

[00:36:34] Stoney is just kind of like chatting with you, but like looking elsewhere. There's another one of the Kappas kind of like lean back on one of the chairs. He's got a walk man on and the headphones are around his neck. Cool. Um, he's just sort of staring down the alley, glancing over at you every now and then. And he kind of walks up to Keith. He's like, all right. I mean, should we, should we take off? Wait, are you saying you, you gotta be Audi five thouty?

[00:37:04] Hey, Hey, that's really funny. That's cool. I like your vibe. Yeah. We like, we, we like all your vibes. Um, I think, I think we're talking about getting together later. Well, all right. Well, we'll see you at a Seagull Cove. Now I'll bring my acoustic guitar. Uh, yeah. I mean, that sounds like a plan.

[00:37:33] It seems like if it's all democratic or at least three out of four saying yes. So yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. And I, I can speak for my sister. I am the older sister. I'd like to hold a sorority meeting. Thank you so much, boys. We'll definitely, I'll RSVP. Hey, guitar. What's your name? Guitar. What's your name? Bryce. Yeah. I wrote, I wrote your, your address down on, on my hand. So we've got it for later. Great. Uh, he also asks for your address. Um,

[00:38:03] yeah, we're on, we're on, um, Ro, Ro, Ro, bath street. And, uh, it's 41, 41, 41 roo baths. Glad we nailed this down. Good. 41 roo bath street. He takes your pen and writes it on his Audi belly button. Um, and the, and the, and the, and the little pack of them, uh, walks, walks out,

[00:38:33] leaving you, leaving you to your own devices. See you at midnight. Tubular. They sort of are slapping five and you can see them getting into a Jeep. Like, well, that's our plans for tonight. Absolutely not. I can't believe you girls. You gave a random man our address. Sydney, what did you expect spring break to be like? Yeah, come on. This bowling s'mores, getting to tell each other our dreams for our future. When we graduate,

[00:39:03] like some of us will, Willow. Mm. But, um, excuse me. I'm just doing a little like extra studying because I love studying so much. Okay. Sydney. You're the only person I know who's taken six years to get a theater degree. Yeah. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I apologize. That was uncalled for. You're right. That was overly critical, says Auburn. This isn't how sisters should talk or act. If everybody wants to go, I guess we can go. Auburn.

[00:39:33] Should we take a vote? I'm president. Yeah. Okay. Let's vote. Let's vote. Let's go. I want to go. Auburn. Auburn looks and sees the, they're obviously outnumbered. Tripping balls, Wendy. All right, then. I guess we will all go then. And I will, I will be in charge of D-deeing everyone then. Sydney, just take a chill pill. We can bike.

[00:40:03] Or walk. It's not that big of a town. Yeah. We can, we can like, we can skip there. And we can, we can still tell each other our dreams on the way. We can, we can rent, we can rent one of those party bikes where we all face each other and pedal. We could roller blade. We can roller blade. My God, I brought my roller blades. Wait, really? We really could. Yeah. We can roller blade. Star wipe. To, to,

[00:40:35] to, to, a little kind of a roadside path. I'm just curious. There's no roller blade skill on the Cthulhu sheet, but I'm curious. Can everybody roll decks for me just to see how graceful this is? Oh boy. I'll roll with a penalty because Wendy is quite high. Oh shoot. I just rolled an extreme success. I'm doing little tricks on the way. Great. Going backwards,

[00:41:05] forwards. I don't know about rollerblading. You're grinding on ledges. Right. You're going backside front to fakie off of some. Thank you. I got a critical failure with a 99. Oh, Oh no. Ain't no rollerblading in Missouri. Okay. All right. And I also failed. Yeah. Oh my God. Okay.

[00:41:32] It seems cruel to take this fun and genre appropriate idea you had and use it against you. No, but that's called Cthulhu folks. You failed. Yes. You fall. Oh, you go down hard. Bam. Ow. I mean, take one point of damage. Oh, and I rip my dress. Your dress is torn. And it's shorter now. Oh no.

[00:42:01] We see the rather picturesque, like a blemish on your, on your leg. But God, the only way to deal with this is probably just rip this rip until the skirts like six inches shorter. I rip the dress. I'm like, I should tie up this wound. I make a turdicate. Um, great. You critically fumbled your rollerblade roll. Okay. Uh, you're, you're going along where the, uh, the, the,

[00:42:31] the sort of dune slope that cascades down to the, to the sandy strand that runs into the beach itself is just on your left. And suddenly a rock just is caught in the wheel of your rollerblade. Your left leg, just think jackknives and you topple over and are tumbling down the sand dune. You are just like, bam, bam, bam. Like it's sand.

[00:43:01] It's not a terrible injury, but you're still going to roll a tooth. roll a D four. Oh, for how many teeth you. I think I lose a couple of teeth. All right. Uh, three, three points of damage. Okay. Not insignificant in this game. Yes. I only have 11 hit points. Oh, please let me know if you ever, uh, lose half your current hit points. Luckily you're not, you're not knocked unconscious though, but I'm a,

[00:43:31] I'm a fair shade uglier. You're, you're disheveled. Yeah. I don't know about, I don't know about uglier. I don't know that, but I lost the tooth. You, you have canonically lost a tooth. Yeah. Uh, you, you sit up and we, our camera zooms in on your face. You, your mouth spreads open, just blood pours out and you've got the smile of a jack-o-lantern. Yeah. Uh, also I never described my hair, but it's a, it's like a poof of auburn and it, and now it's just even poofier.

[00:44:02] And you look up, your friends are far up the dune side. Oh, shoot. And then you see them. My friends? No. You see the, uh, the sort of driftwood that is piled and heaped in little stacks all around the base of this little dune that you slid down. At first it looks as though they are just a driftwood piles that someone's heaped up for bonfires.

[00:44:31] And then you see that they sort of like, that clearly someone has done this very deliberately. Some of them seem lashed together into strange asymmetric configurations. It's as though they're, they're sculptures. Someone has produced these, these gnarled and distorted kind of driftwood effigies because they are vaguely humanoid. these figures. There's,

[00:44:57] there's two of them just sort of like suspended there in front of you. That's not all. There, there's a, uh, little, uh, scaffolding that looks of impossible age, like extremely weathered wood that seems to bore into the dune itself as though you could walk into it like a mine shaft. Um, I pull, I pull my gun that I have. And, and this one's a hand, this one is just a handgun.

[00:45:28] This one, this one, well, because I probably also have a rifle. I probably also have a rifle. You were rollerblading with a full rifle strapped to your back. No, no, I think I left that one at the Airbnb. Thanks, thanks Amy. This was starting to strain verisimilitude, but yes, you, you reach into your Lycra and produce a handgun. Um, uh, am I, am I drawn to anyone in particular?

[00:45:57] Anyone? Of the, of the sculptures? Yeah, I mean, you tell me. Okay. Yeah. Um, I mean, there, there is one that, uh, that I am, that just is like calling me, you know, like I can't, I come from, I've got a bad family history. Um, and, uh, this one, this one just feels like something from my past, like where, where I grew up and, and maybe like, uh, you know, my, my, my dad or something. And it just reminds me of him somehow, like the shape and the sturdiness and the way the shoulders are kind of set and hard. It reminds you of your father?

[00:46:28] Yeah. Yeah. Patriarch is the word that definitely comes into your mind looking at this thing. Roll history for me. Oh, or maybe a cult. Oh, no, that went from a, Oh, I probably got a low number cause it's zero, zero, but the other one's also a zero. So that's a, what? So that's a hundred. That's a hundred. Yeah. I critically failed. I lose another two.

[00:47:01] Amy, it was great playing with you. How do you do this? One hundred. A fumble on your, that was a history roll. Was it? Yeah. A fumbled history roll. Um, yeah. Okay. Look, we're going to play it as it lays. I look,

[00:47:30] unless you think any of this is planned or premeditated, Amy just whispered in my ear, should I die? What a great idea. The first thing that happens because of your fumbled history roll is I want to flash you back, flash you back. When you look at this, at this effigy father patriarch,

[00:48:00] you, I want to flash you back to school and let us not forget that your alma mater is Miskatonic university. In a gray stone edifice of Gothic construction, the bottle glass windows letting in a febrile glow into the office hours of the professor who is trying to get you to remember your lessons. I'm like, one more time,

[00:48:30] one more time, Mizzou. Can you walk me through again, the history of the lower counties of the Delaware semi-autonomous region of the province of Pennsylvania in the 17th century? Oh God. You had left off with your essay with the Lanap and Assateague native tribes. Please continue. Shoreshaw,

[00:49:00] Maybelline, Cryox, Eskidon. Maybe she's born with it. Maybe she should study more.

[00:49:24] You chose an essay on theological inconsistencies in Quaker communities in 17th century. I'm trying to take them down. I'm sorry? The Quakers are inconsistent and I would try to root out the main cause. I thought it was a noble endeavor. Mizzou, the Quakers were a peace-loving sect,

[00:49:48] the society of friends that would sit together until such moments as the Holy Spirit moved them. But if you were paying attention to my class, then you would know about the heresies of Delmore Penrose, who came to the Rehoboth region in 1655. His, his separatist family of friends, who believe they spoke not to the Holy Spirit, but to the deep friends.

[00:50:18] You did do the assigned reading, did you not? Well, I was just more interested in his wife, Matilda. Ah, yes, I suppose you would be more interested in her considering he ate her. Considering I what? That the colony was lost because Delmore Penrose went mad. They did not survive the winter of 1657 and they ate each other. Have you been sleeping through all of my classes? Look, I mean, you, you know that I have, I'm like,

[00:50:49] yeah, you see me there with my head on the table. God, but the way you say it now, if I could just get those Cliffs notes, that sounds pretty interesting. Like a cannibal society just based on deep faith on like probably some horrors of the underworld. That's awesome. Horrors of the underworld. Horrors of the underworld. These are the products of a fevered Puritan Protestant imagination. Do the reading.

[00:51:19] If you don't spend all spring break studying 12 hours a day, I will have no choice but to fail you from your history world civilization class. And then you're going to be in as bad a situation as some other students I know. This plays in your head. And you, and you recall like the reading the Cliffs notes,

[00:51:47] the Delmore Penrose colony, the Quaker heretics who listened to the voice of the Holy Spirit in Rehoboth that devoured each other. And then you hear the voice from the cavern. Professor Pinchwick.

[00:52:18] What is day is not small with light? What is spirit? What is fate?

[00:52:41] When what once was rich in my child? If I go in there, do I have to do 12 hours of studying a day?

[00:53:08] That seems like a really nice way to avoid that. And so, yeah, I go down. I go into the cave. You go into the cave. Yes. The rest of you are skating, skating, skating, skating. I did fail my rollerblading rule, but I don't want to take any damage. I was actually cruising. I'm a skater. I rolled an eight. Yeah.

[00:53:37] And then when Willow told Sidney to take a chill pill, I literally did. And I rolled an 88 with my penalty die. Okay, great. I want to say that you also bite it. Just take one point of damage. But you said you took a chill pill as well? Yes. It was a Dover drop. Yep. Which, just so I'm clear, is what? I have no fucking idea. Great. Yeah, it's a pill that you got at a military base. Yes.

[00:54:06] Someone just put a plastic bag into your hand. It was like, this helps us decompress after a mission in Nicaragua. Thanks, Dad. Yeah. So, do you think your mom would be okay if I called her? You should take a chill pill, Dad. She's still dating Brian, right? Yeah, Brian and Todd. And Todd.

[00:54:36] Todd's got this sick, like, outie belly button. You know, like a doorstop. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, you look good, Dad. You look good, Wendy. I hear there's a doctor at a local delivery hospital who really is, uh, we're doing fast and loose with the umbilical separations. Anyway, uh, tell your mom I, uh, I miss her.

[00:55:07] I'll be seeing you, kid. Don't ask me where I'm going. Reagan points, and I go wherever I'm asked. Godspeed. Bring back some drugs. Okay. Yeah, you fall. Yeah. You fall. You remember this. And, uh, off in the distance, um, you also see just like lashed and tied together with twine. This asymmetric kind of image there. Off in the distance. Well, where did Mizzou go?

[00:55:34] Sydney grabs Willow's hand because this is like the most fun she's been having on this spring break trip. Uh, and they were skating just like the old days. Aw. Uh, after she hurt her knee, obviously, so she grabs her hand for stability, too. She says, maybe she's taking a shortcut. She really, really wanted to hang out with those guys. Uh, yeah, we all do, Sydney. Willow, listen. What? I'm sorry. I know that you think I'm lame.

[00:56:06] Willow, you always do that with your voice when you lie. It's just my voice. That's true. Listen, and she grabs Wendy's hand, too. Uh, after you just took a pill. And she says, I just, I just don't want anything to change. I, I feel so close to you. You're my sisters. Oh my gosh, we can still be close?

[00:56:35] Girl, I brought a tattoo gun. I, okay, I, I think I need to learn. To let go a little bit. Yes! Oh my God. I, I can't believe that you're finally saying this. Are you ready to let go? A little bit, but not your hands. Oh, okay, okay, yeah, no, no, no. I'm holding on. Sydney, this is, this is like a really sweet and special moment. Mizzou just fucking bit it and fell down that huge hill. The horseshoe crabs are gonna eat her alive.

[00:57:04] I was gonna say, I think we should get Mizzou. I don't want to be separated. Not for a minute on this spring break. No, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, yeah, okay. Should we all roll down the hill? Is that fun? Yes. On our rollerblades. Yeah, we can, oh, we can totally do this. Just do as I do. Oh, I could carry you. Actually. No, you can't. Yeah. I could show you. Auburn rolled a five on her dexterity roll, so she just kind of launches over all your heads

[00:57:34] and sort of like comes to a perfect stop there. Yeah, I think what I want to say, you just noticed that Mizzou is not there. If you want to roll a spot hidden, then maybe you can tell me that you actually saw her bite the dust. Okay. I thought we did watch her go over. Oh, nope. I didn't see a thing. I was too busy thinking about that man, that sad man in that raincoat. Wonder if I'll ever see him again. Oh, that's just Delaware, baby.

[00:58:05] Anyone succeed? I failed. I am interested, depending on what everyone else is. I also failed. Should I push it? Yeah. Yes! One of us should push it. Okay, yeah, yeah. Look over the barrier. I'll push it. I'll push it. Get closer to the edge. I'll take out my binoculars. I got something that will enhance your vision. Wait. It's just cocaine. Oh. Yes, that's what I do.

[00:58:32] I'm just imagining a binocular-shaped bulge in your onesie that you sort of reach into to produce this. But yes, you see a little furrow in the sand next to the trail where some of the seagrass has been parted as Mizzou went crashing down the little levee there. I've spotted the trail. I think she went into some... I don't know. There's like some super creepy, maybe like hole in a dune?

[00:59:03] Is that where the party is? Could be a fun time. Okay. Let's have an open mind, Sydney. Right, right. We're going to be open, right? Yes. She looks down at her knees. She can see her knees. She starts shaking. Hi, Ryan. Should we... Yes, fun. Should we do like ayahuasca before we go in there? Jesus Christ. Wendy came on this trip like Hunter S. Thompson. Baby steps, Wendy. We're just outside of Rehoboth.

[00:59:32] My dad said it's really good. Great. I want to say that as all this has happened, we've moved significantly forward in time. Night is falling. And even I mentioned it like at the very beginning there, that the sun was already beginning to set. And now, like, twilight has well and truly fallen. And you can see like a few beachside houses off in the distance, one of whom you assume is Seagull Cove, because the coastline takes a little bend. And... But if you go down the hill there,

[01:00:01] you can see, like, on the beach, not significantly far from where this wreck took place, sparks beginning to fly into the dark ether of the night. It looks as though someone is kind of building a bonfire there. Oh, but... I mean, someone should probably tell the guys, right? They're totally expecting us. Auburn, we keep forgetting you're here. Yeah, I don't know why I'm just not speaking until I'm spoken to.

[01:00:31] I'm so sorry about before when we all held hands. I thought you were with us. God, I admit, it kind of stings. I mean... This is always going off on our own thing. Should we just... I mean, if you all want to go and see if she's there, that's fine. But it looks like they're already starting the party. And she does have three guns. I mean, she can take care of herself. That is true. Mizzou. Okay, let's take a vote. Sorority vote.

[01:01:01] Okay. Democracy in action. Should we go find Mizzou? Or should we go to this crazy party and... Go to the party. Is it caves? We could split up. Go. Of course you can. You guys go ahead. I'll find Mizzou. I'm not ready yet to do ayahuasca and cocaine. Sydney! Willow!

[01:01:32] What? Tattoos! Come with me. Willow, come with me. We'll find Mizzou and we can go to the party together. Okay. And Wendy, you and Auburn, you get the party started, I guess. Yeah, but Wendy, give me something. I think you've already had too much. No. Yes, yes. But my sister... Let's Dover drop together.

[01:02:03] All of us? Yes. You need to loosen up, Sydney. I mean, you lead the sorority, but we're all high all the time. I'm going to roll against my pal. Okay. Which is really low. This is how peer pressure worked in the 80s, too. I passed, but I'm going to push the roll of my own power. Why would I stop you? Please. Yes. Please push your self-imposed roll.

[01:02:32] Oh, no, I failed. Oh, no. I can't help myself. You know what? I think what that was, really, this push of yours, is there's a part deep inside Sydney that really wants this. You're pushing against your own sense of cosseted stricture to have the courage to live a little. Who's going to know, other than your best friends, what you did out here?

[01:02:58] Only that which permeates everything that is all things and in all places. I'm about to have a really bad high. All right. So you've been given mystery experimental U.S. government medicine. Oh, look, it says military rage. Cheers. All of you take Dover drops.

[01:03:31] You don't chew it. Oh, what? You don't chew it? It's so bitter. It's so bitter. But you feel it dissolving on your tongue and on your palate. And you can feel it sort of dripping down the back of your throat. My gums are numb. Was I not supposed to chew it? No, you did it right. Okay. All right. So I'll come with you, Wendy. Well, how long does it take to kick in? Do you know? How much time's left in the show? Well, I think I'm already starting to feel something.

[01:04:01] It's graduated. I think after five minutes, you start to feel a little tingle. Great. So we're splitting our party. I think so. I wasn't clear where I was going, but I've been doing Dover drops all day. Forgive me if I'm being unclear here, but it sounds like the sisters were going to look for Mizzou. And it sounded like Auburn and Wendy were going down to the bonfire where the Kappas seem to be piling logs on a heap by the shore. So we break up our little crew.

[01:04:29] We break up our little sorority, our sisterhood, our society of friends, parts. And you go back with your sister and you and Auburn descend at a different part of the hill, rolling on your rollerblades down towards the fire. Yeah. Why don't we start here? And yes, we approach the fire. And you can see there it's Keith and Stoney and Bryce.

[01:04:59] The whole gang is there. Twitch, Bebop, Rocksteady. They're all there. Yeah. And you can see Keith kind of jog towards you like, hey, all right, all right. And kind of, where's the one who was really giving my Audi the business? Oh, they went into the spooky cave. But, you know, we're here. It's Auburn and I'm Wendy. Oh, hey, all right. We were the ones with all the drugs.

[01:05:29] Stoney's like, far out. Okay, nice. Yeah. The first one's free. Do you want to try? I've got this new experimental drug. It's Dover drops. It's like LSD, but like it doesn't come back years later, apparently. Stoney has already put it in his mouth. Perfect. Great. And you can see the one with the headphones and Walkman is just kind of watching the fire. Yeah.

[01:05:54] And your friends, you kind of like no longer see them in the gloom outside of the sort of like light of this fire. The coastline is now incredibly dark. And this little seaside moat of light that you find yourself suspended in feels very, very, very, very small indeed. Wendy starts to dance. And it's like the hammer dance. Because it's the 1980s.

[01:06:18] I think it starts out like seductive, but then she wears those stonewashed jeans that like flare out almost like boss jeans ahead of their time. Okay. So it starts out seductive and then you start dancing like hammer and it gets even more seductive. Yes. Exactly. Now, the Regency Cthulhu sheet has a dancing skill, but I don't know that yours does. What would you like to roll to see how seductive this dance actually is? Can I roll science pharmacy? Okay.

[01:06:48] Because the drugs are helping. I see what you're asking to see here if the drugs are sort of providing fuel for your dance in a sort of Popeye spinach kind of way. Precisely. Okay. Yeah. Roll pharmacy to see how drugs work on you, I guess. You know what? I'm learning with you. Make a power roll. Ah, okay. This is how we're going to judge these drugs. I went from 70 to 25 with that decision.

[01:07:17] 88 again. 88. That was my rollerblading roll as well. Oh, yeah. You want to push it? Yeah, just push it. Yeah, 25. Of course I want to push it. A 71, which would have matched my pharmacy roll. But I have failed my power roll push. Oh, I think to push the roll, she's worried that nobody's looking at her while she's dancing. So she's going to get really close to the fire.

[01:07:49] The way, like, the shadows move. Yeah. It's beautiful. The way the shadows seem to move and scintillate there. And as you say, it's seductive. You can see and you can feel the Dover Drops starting to kind of take effect in the way that time itself seems to stretch and slow. And speed up and stretch as the flames kind of move like liquid into the night.

[01:08:13] And you can see Kyle here, or Keith, rather, look at you just like, tubular. One of them yells, stop, hammer time. Yes. Um, please, Wendy, don't hurt him. Yeah. You go dancing, dancing, dancing, dancing, dancing.

[01:08:35] You can see their faces sort of whipped by kind of laughing, laughing, leering, leering, laughing, laughing, angry, laughing, laughing. You see his face in the shadows, laughing, laughing. He's slightly closer, laughing, laughing. You feel the heat of the fire. His eyes are on you. His eyes are on you and you're currently on fire.

[01:09:07] Thank you. Yeah. I knew it was a hot dance. Great. Um, so one roll sanity for the eyes in the darkness that you felt piercing out of the night, just kind of gazing at you from the shadows, like two pinpricks of starlight. Wow. 12 under 25. That's success. Great. Um, you take, you take only one point of sanity loss for that. How close is the leering shadow man?

[01:09:35] How close did he seem? He seemed maybe only eight feet away from you and that is closest, um, vantage. Okay. I think her involuntary reaction is to try to dance closer to him and put a Dover job on his tongue with her finger. Okay, great. Uh, you dance closer to him and then you hear like the laughter around you. Like, yeah, awesome. Totally right. Oh, he's on fire. Um, and yeah, uh, you're now, you, you can feel the heat on your back as, uh,

[01:10:07] roll a D six for me. Oh, wow. Am I going to have to do this every round? A four. Take four points of fire damage. Hachi machi. So I'm down to eight out of 13. Great. Um, you son, as you're, as you're moving towards that figure to slip a Dover drop into its mouth, you can see his lips sort of part as if he's going to accept it for a moment.

[01:10:33] In your mind's eyes, your, as your, uh, pupils sort of bulge in your head. His mouth opens and his teeth are sharp and you are tackled to the ground and you can feel the fire on your back being, being sort of like crushed out. Um, but you have taken four points of damage there. You are well and truly, uh, tripping the light. Fantastic. And you can hear all, all around you. Like get some aloe, get some aloe or something. Pee on him.

[01:11:00] Um, and you feel a disturbingly warm fluid. We see all the way by like those effigies, just like the fire grows bigger for a moment. And Sydney goes, putting a lot of logs on that fire. Shouldn't get too big though. They don't want the cops to come. Yeah. You see the fire flare for a moment and then, and then go away.

[01:11:29] You're looking for Mizzou and you do not see her. Oh yeah. By the way, the person who said, uh, peon, that was one of the kappas. Feel free to grab a sheet. Are my cuck dreams coming true? Yeah. That was somebody, the person who suggested that you peon to put out the fire was definitely someone that we haven't noticed before, uh, because they're sort of playing the sides. I guess if I had to put a, put it in an economical way, they like to watch.

[01:11:59] Amy's played with us twice. This is her fourth character. I'm a criminal. Oh, wow. I'll say. My name is Viper. Incredible. Right. You're right there next to Auburn. Like, oh my God. Oh my God. Did you see that? Yeah. And I did everything I could, including pee on him. Gosh. Like, I mean, I know you do that with jellyfish, but it's water too.

[01:12:29] It seems to have worked okay. You, you were good at, um, first response. Are you like an EMT or something? No, I'm, I'm just a guy. I, I mean, I guess, I guess after this, some people might call me a hero, but I didn't ask for that. Oh my gosh. Says Auburn. Like, I just noticed your tattoo. Yeah. It's under my very vascular arms. It was really hard to get it. Cause if you tattoo on your veins, it hurts more.

[01:13:02] Wow. You're not afraid of anything. Well, that's not true. I'm afraid of getting close to people. Auburn's pupils are like the size of her eye. Just like the Dover drop is really kicked in and you can just, and she is like reaching out towards your face. Close like this. Yeah.

[01:13:30] This is my first time feeling something like this when I'm not in a chair. Berlin's take my breath away begins to play on the soundtrack. Um, and you can react to this however you want, but Auburn is leaning in to kiss you. Yeah. Viper smacks a good one. Spoken like a real kiss doer.

[01:14:02] So yes, our 80s movie now has a real hot and heavy make out as a, as Viper, Viper and Auburn just like have their hands in each other's hair. And you see the fire behind them roaring in the night as the two of them tumble to the sand. Wait, wait, I'm a gentleman and I never put my dick away after I beat on the guy. Give me. Looks like Keith's not the only one with an Audi.

[01:14:37] And with that, we will draw a discreet veil over our scene so far as, um, as, uh, as, as, as, as Wendy clings to life next to the make out session. Um, the sisters are many feet away, well outside the boundary of that light. It is dark. All you hear is the gentle water.

[01:15:07] You can see the kind of like slick driftwood effigies there. Sea mist seems to cling to them and make them shimmer slightly in the moonlight. It's a little cold now. Are you doing okay in your onesie? Oh yeah, I feel great. Um, how are you feeling? Um, I think. What are you seeing?

[01:15:38] Roll power for me, both of you, to see how these Denver drops are being handled. Or Dover drops. Denver drops a whole different thing. Denver drops. Uh, I rolled a hard success on my pal. Great. Regular success. Okay, great. Right now, I will say that the, uh, the experience is like euphoria. It's just like a prickling in your, in your blood. You can, it's, you know, you can see very clearly up close and far away. It's as though your senses are in some way heightened.

[01:16:07] And that, that, that murmur of the ocean. It sounds as though the ocean itself is sort of respirating near you. Or maybe it's just the way that the, that the murmuration of the sea is resonating inside that cave in front of you. Turning, turning, turning the land itself into some sort of musical instrument.

[01:16:33] It's the earth itself for breathing and alive as if it itself was invested with a spirit. Oh, let's lay down. Let's touch. Let's touch. Yeah. You want to touch. Okay. Well, we should take off our clothes. Yes. Yes. This is an 80s movie. Doesn't it feel, she's starting to like unbutton her sundress.

[01:17:00] Doesn't it feel like one of those whisper rooms in a cathedral? Remember? Remember when we would go to the cathedral together? Yes, I remember. And we would stand at different corners and I could hear you and you could hear me, but nobody else could hear us? Yes, yes, yes. I feel like I'm being spoken to. This is the closest to God I've ever felt. What? No. What?

[01:17:27] She has on like a pointy Madonna bra and high-waisted underwear as she takes her ripped sundress off. Should we swim? Yes. Willow. Yes. I'm like touching your hair. Yes. I'm braiding our hair together. Yes. Are you? Oh, yes. Just like we used to. Your hair is like our long blonde hair is like through my fingers. Are you mad at me?

[01:17:57] Oh my gosh, no. Sydney, I could never be mad at you. Even though you totally took my room and I was supposed to be able to go back to it and you totally changed everything in it. You made it so square. But I'm not mad. Dad. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

[01:18:49] I'm sorry for everything that I've done. I have been for a very long time, Willow. She starts to grip your shoulders. A very long time. Oh, yeah. This is just proof. That's all I needed was to step off the edge. I thought that it would be an abyss, but it's not. It's actually flight. I'm actually flying.

[01:19:19] And she starts to walk towards the ocean. Oh, wait. Okay, okay, okay, Sydney. Slow down, slow down, slow down. You walk into the water. Our camera is like still on land watching your footprints recede into the sand.

[01:19:41] There are two sets of footprints in the sand as you walk into the waves connected by a braid. It's as though you hear the voice of God. It's not an abyss. It's flight. All are one. And one are all. There is one. There is one.

[01:20:11] What is oneness? A circle whose surface is nowhere and whose center is everywhere. As you walk into the water, make a swim roll for me. Yeah, swim. The one everyone puts points into. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

[01:20:41] Okay, we're trying to beat a 20. A four. I also succeeded with a 12. Wow. Holy shit. A hard success. Amazing. Extreme on this hand. Extreme success. Yes, yes. You are pinioned as you are to your sister, both in both by blood and by the ties that bind among the sorority of Delta, Delta, Delta.

[01:21:09] You move out into another sort of Delta, out there, into the waters of the Atlantic. And you're splashing. Your feet are no longer touching bottom. Yes, this exhilarating sense of freedom. Okay, it's pretty cool. It's pretty cool. Make a spot hidden. Okay. I don't want to.

[01:21:41] Ooh, I fail. I'm gonna, can I push the roll? Certainly. I think she ducks under the water and is like, I'm gonna open my eyes. I'm gonna see what's down there. And she goes under and she's like opening her, it burns. It burns so bad. Uh, I failed worse. Oh no. I. A 96. I failed really bad. I got a, oh no. So salty. No. What'd you get? I got a regular success. Like exactly.

[01:22:11] 60, under 60. All right. Yeah. Meats. We'll deal with this first. Okay. You look, you feel your sister sort of like plunge a little deeper in that tug on your hair as she kind of goes down and you're, you swivel around face back towards the shore and you can see that fire, uh, there off to your, off to your left. And then in front of you by the aperture of the cavern, you see Mizzou. Oh.

[01:22:41] Mizzou was standing right framed by the cave. I'm hungry. I already ate my husband. And you can see that there is blood from mouth just soaked through to, to the legs covered, absolutely covered in blood. Huh.

[01:23:14] But you went down and you open your eyes. So salty. The salt water burns immediately, but you're on a Dover drop and you can see through the murk as if through heightened senses, a, an Argentine silvery school of fish whips by. And then you see like the little motes of light down there on the, on the, on the bottom, like

[01:23:43] beneath your kicking legs, treading water as though the stars themselves were reflected down there. Oh wait, no. Those, those aren't stars. It's the reflection in about a hundred eyes. Staring back up at you. And you can see the nude human figures on the bottom of the sea, looking up at you, just like

[01:24:11] gazing upwards at you with, and their mouths open, revealing long dagger shark teeth. And then a couple of them kick off from the bottom and begin to move towards you. Uh, both of you roll sanity off the rip. Oh my God. We see the thing in the movie where I release all the air out of my mouth and there's just like all the bubbles and I'm also probably drowning. What? What's my sin?

[01:24:39] Oh, 76 over 35. That's a failure. 49 under 70. Nice. One point of sanity loss. Five points of sanity loss. Can you roll an intelligence roll for me, Sydney? Sure can. Is this God? Six? No. It is.

[01:25:09] You gazed down and you rolled a successful intelligence roll after losing five points of sanity in one blow. This is a bout of madness. You ask the question, is this God? Yes. For what is God if not the deeds done by his officiants? Yes. This is my body, which is given for you.

[01:25:39] As often as you shall eat it, do this in remembrance of me. You've heard these words many times. This is my blood of the new covenant. As often as thou shall drink it, do this in remembrance of me. All is one. All is one. To create is to destroy. Light is darkness. To eat is to give birth.

[01:26:07] And you have an image of God right now that is of an enormous mouth, open and consuming itself forever in an enormous ouroboric wheel. As these faces come up to you with their grasping sharpened teeth. And you realize that another duality that is raised and destroyed by the truth is life and

[01:26:32] death for those that partake of his Eucharist is totally wiped clean. Eat of me and thou shalt never die. And their sharp teeth close upon your flesh. As you are portraying it, the way this bout of madness manifests is that you accept his devouring. To eat is to be born.

[01:27:04] Great. That doesn't seem good for my end. Because even though you just lost one point of sanity and you're now in your lucid, although you saw something incredibly disturbing there on the shore, you are now being pulled underwater by a braid connected to your scalp. What do you do? Oh no. Can I try to rip my hair?

[01:27:32] Probably going to come loose soon. I'm being devoured. Yeah. It's not a gentle tug. It's a sharp pull. And then another. Yeah, I'm going to try and just like kick away and wrench what I can. You're kicking my body. Yeah. I, yeah. You kick against your sister's body. Your rock. Your, uh, anchor.

[01:27:57] And, uh, now, when you get your foot against her, this is going to be a strength roll. If you fail this, we're going to start getting into drowning rules. But if you pass, then you'll separate yourself to the tune of some damage when you rip some of your hair out. Um, what? What if? Oh yeah. Please make a pitch. Um, um.

[01:28:25] Josephine, I also want to say too, when she went down to accept this. Yeah. It was, uh, she like kicked up. She like, her legs came out of the water for a second as she paddled to get down like closer to these mouths and eyes, arms spread. And you saw for a moment in the glinting light of like the moon and the firelight on the shore and stuff. She had a small tattoo. No, stop. Um, on her ankle that you never saw because she always wore high socks or stockings and

[01:28:55] shoes that covered it. And you see that it does say WWSW. No. And she was going to tell you tonight. Splash, splash, splash, splash, splash. Splash. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Does that help you make your decision? When you kick my body or... Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. Okay. Okay.

[01:29:24] So I did see that. So briefly. Could have been anything. Okay. Maybe instead of ripping apart, I'm just going to try to drag her body with me. I don't know what's happening over there. You don't know what's happening. I don't know what's happening. If you're trying to take her with you, you're going to be working against her. She's giving herself willingly. You're going to be working against forces that you are not yet aware of, but are aware of you. Right.

[01:29:50] If you want to try to escape right now, it will take an extreme strength roll. My strength is 25. Yeah. You said you would carry me earlier. Now's your chance. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Yeah. Okay. Oh, yeah. I do have a lot of luck. I'm a lucky girl. Okay. Because you have such a great sister. Yeah. That's a 73. 73.

[01:30:18] A 73 over 25 is not an extreme success. What's the math to get that to five? To get that to five? You have how much luck? Yeah, 68. I'm getting us out of here. You're doing 68? Yeah, I'm going to spend 68 luck. All right.

[01:30:49] You pull with all your might and it's just, it's just not working. You're pulling, you're pulling, you're pulling. Good God, you're thrashing. We see your legs just like, just waving limply, impotently in the water as your sister is willingly forcing you downward. Oh, God. And then you get lucky. You feel your foot strike the slick and wet surface of something.

[01:31:16] And you feel it kind of fumble across something that you're, that you just sensorily realize is a human face. Some other thing is down there. And you are capable of kicking off it. And luckily, incredibly luckily, 69 points luckily. Kicking off and the two of you break the surface. And you are, you could take a huge gasping gulp of air.

[01:31:44] But you also have to roll sanity because you realize there's something in the water. I got you. I got you. I got you. I got you. Oh, I passed, baby. All right. Okay. Okay. So now you're, you're, you're a little bit far out, I think. So we're, we're going to flail our way. Let's, we don't have to go through an entire by the rules chase here. No, no, no. But we got to go. We got to go. Whatever's going on with you.

[01:32:14] I'm going to slap her. Oh. Am I, am I hurt? Am I, have I been like somewhat bitten? Let's see. Let's see. Oh, no. Yes. But you, you can tell, you could tell that you've been hurt, but I think it's that horrible thing of you don't know by how much yet. Okay. You can feel pain and you're dimly aware that the water around you has become a little bit cloudy, but you, you, you can just feel it.

[01:32:43] This, the salt of the water stinging your leg. You know, it's bad, but you don't know by how much. And the two of you are now bobbing in the water there. And you know, you know, there's something beneath you and the shore is like 50 yards away. We got to go. We got to go. We're going to start losing our motor functions exponentially. So we've got to go to shore now. Swim. And I think I'm in shock. I wasn't definitely insane, but I think the pain has shocked me back. You're out of your bow. Adrenaline mode.

[01:33:11] I'm just like, I can't feel where I'm bitten or what parts have been lost. So she just starts swimming and she's pulling you swimming. Swim. Swim. You, uh, you see a viper and Auburn, uh, just like tumbling, tumbling over each other there in the sand. Help! Help! Uh, Stoney is kind of like, uh, um, sitting you up like, oh man, I'm so, I'm sorry. That looks pretty bad. Can you help me?

[01:33:41] I got, I got a bunch of Valium in my bag. I'm sorry? Valium in my bag. I'll need like six though for it to have any effect. Um, he runs off into the, your, your bag is deeper into the, yeah. Do you see, you see, so you dropped it to dance. You see, so you run into the shadows. Yeah. He does not return. Oh my God. Is Auburn nearby? Yeah. Um, uh, Auburn is nearby. With Viper. Yeah.

[01:34:11] Auburn, you gotta help me. I think I might be dying. I'm on a journey of self-discovery right now, Wendy. I'm learning a lot about myself. His dick's still out. I know. Oh, I can't wait to tell Cindy about this. She's gonna try to, like, look inward and really feel the Dover drop.

[01:34:37] She wants to really have a vision quest to, to, to ignore the pain, to put away the pain. Roll for vision quest. I assume that's power. I think power. What's your power? 25. Okay. I rolled a 63. You can spend luck or I would offer that you can push. It's called push the roll. It is. I'm gonna push the roll. And I, I feel this. I feel this.

[01:35:04] And I'll, I'll push the roll by realizing I had, like, another half dozen Dover drops on me. And they're all going in my mouth at the same time. A heroic dose. Yes, a heroic dose. I rolled a 99. Oh no. You have fumbled a push troll. I did indeed. Oh shoot. Yes.

[01:35:33] Uh oh. Uh oh. Um, you see, you notice, yes, Stoney's gone. The Dover drops disappear in your mouth. The fire. I'm gonna chew on this time. It's quiet. The fire produces no sound.

[01:36:08] That's the sound of the sky. A day whipping over your head. You see a man in a jet black hat and a high collar. Just like, goody Constance, will you not come to the longhouse this? You're high. You're high. You're high. You're high. You see Auburn there in front of you. Like, I just, what did you do? Self-discovered. Yeah.

[01:36:38] And then you see a man with lanky, just wet hair, kneeling in the fire, but remaining unburned, staring at you. Dost thou hear his voice? I say his. Hers. Theirs.

[01:37:09] Ours. Yours. All. Is. One. You see, like, a black ship, like, sitting out at sea with three sails. You see people building a little settlement out here out of logs. You see them kind of delving into the sand.

[01:37:39] You see people, like, listening, listening to the earth itself. A group of people walking into the water. A man, like, holding a woman in his arms with his face covered in blood, just like. And then back to this man sitting in the fire. I think it's working. What should I do, mister?

[01:38:06] We did from Southampton come to make our way upon this new world, guided by the voice of the Holy Spirit. And here we did make our church, we society of friends, a fraternity and sorority here upon this new land. But in the earth and in the waves we did hear the voice.

[01:38:35] The voice of the Spirit for which we had so long hungered. And it changed our hunger and made us one. Partake of his Eucharist and thou shalt never die. The water shall be air to thee. The fire shall be as water. All elements in their pregnant causes mixed.

[01:39:02] Distilled and sublime under his eye. I'll put a Dover drop on his tongue. Should I roll sanity? I think at this moment you're more sane than you've ever been. Yes. But for the purpose, but yes. Mechanically. Mechanically, yes. I failed 56 over 25. Roll a D8.

[01:39:32] D8. Do I know which one that is? Oh, only two. Only two. I think I've seen this guy on campus on the corner with a megaphone. You've definitely seen people like this, but you're getting this information just sort of like shot into you. He's been speaking to you, but his mouth has never moved. Oh. It's really hard to get the Dover drop in there.

[01:39:59] I think if he doesn't react to me trying to touch him, I'm going to start to walk into the water. Great. Yeah. Because I saw that. That's what I'm supposed to do. It's my destiny. Why do bushes burn? Why do seas part? For they are all the same and they all have stories to tell. Will you not join my congregation?

[01:40:25] I'll join over her shoulder as she walks toward the shoreline. Yeah. And the last thing you hear is you walk into the water. Stoney is with your new, your new eyes. You can see, you can see that Stoney is off there in the darkness gnawing on his own arm. As you walk into the water and you can feel in it, under its depths, countless eyes gazing back at you.

[01:40:56] Oh. Oh. Oh, where's Fenty? Don't ruin this. Wait. Come back. No, don't look out there. Look here. Right here. You and me, babe. I'm starting to get nervous, though.

[01:41:20] Now, now, two of us, where is everyone? Everyone who matters is right here. All I see is your beauty, man. No one's ever said anything that nice to me. When the firelight, you know, lit up because a girl was inside of it. She seemed to take it okay, I think.

[01:41:51] It glistened in your eyes the way that I've never seen anything glisten before. I mean. When her back was on fire, you saw the reflection in my eyes? Yeah, her back and her pants. And her big pants. God. The thing is, I just, I know it sounds silly and I know we really have just met for nigh on minutes. Yeah, I say nigh on minutes. Wow, Viper, you've got a way with words. For mere minutes.

[01:42:20] I think I'm in love, Auburn. All of a sudden. Love? What are you talking about? That's crazy. No, I know. It's just one week. No, I know. This vacation. You're going to go back to your school. I'm going to go back to mine. I know. And we're going to forget each other. No, you're going to go to Massachusetts and I'm going to go to Maine. And where there is a university because I do go to college. But. Oh, yeah. I'm so sure. Like you're going to write to me all the time. We're going to make long distance work. I've heard it all before. We. Yeah.

[01:42:49] Like I have a feeling that like dial up Internet is on its way. Please have my vision of you and me being together. Being together. I'm going to make some shit happen. Okay. By all means make shit happen. It sounds to me like Viper's been hearing a voice. Yeah. Viper's been hearing a voice and we're going to be together.

[01:43:18] We're going to be one. We're going to be one. What? The way that the Quakers were together where everyone was married and eating each other. Viper. Viper, we just met. But I'm not looking for Mr. Right. I'm looking for Mr. Right now. Well, that's. So don't talk about love.

[01:43:49] Talk about. Eating. And just. I mean, it's not like. Okay. Okay. Wait. Well, I got. I got myself back. I wonder if you. I wonder if you have got yourself back because suddenly you were speaking with a voice that seemed to be speaking through you from the fire, from the water, from the very earth itself. Okay. Yeah. 62 over what? Sanity. Oh, yeah. Sanity is 60. I would say power, but your power is also 60. It's also 60.

[01:44:18] So yes, you have passed. So you realize in that moment, Viper, that that hungry urge you had where love and lust and the urge to destroy and devour were won. If there's something in this place that was making you feel that. Oh, my. Oh, my gosh. What did I say? What? Like, I'm going to actually take a bite of you and swallow? That's crazy. Let's roll.

[01:44:49] I just rolled her power. No, of course not. You'd never. Like I said, I'm not looking for love. I'm looking for one night of experience. Oh, my God. Get your nose out of my mouth. Auburn has put her nose in your mouth. It's my first time. Can you tell?

[01:45:17] And then her nose like goes down your chin and like kisses your neck. Oh. And then her teeth sink into your neck. Whoa. Because she just failed her power roll. Oh. Okay. Oh. Whoa. Oh. Oh, shoot. Oh, God. There's an auburn, auburn, auburn. Roll a d6 for me. Oh, okay. One. Okay. One point of damage as she runs into it. It's like, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Blood now on her lips.

[01:45:45] You see her pupils super wide. Holy shit. You'll be gentle with me. Right? But we'll be one. And she lunges at you. Oh. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Oh, my God. This is awesome. Awesome. All right. All right. Do you surrender to this or do you fight back or dodge? Um, I, yeah. I mean, I, yeah. I don't.

[01:46:11] I, look, I, we painted a nice history for this guy and I think he's gonna let it happen. She just rolled a seven on her fighting brawl so it wouldn't have mattered anyway. Okay, great. Yeah, yeah. So I want to just see like from the perspective of the ocean, the water lapping and just see two figures there in the firelight and one tackles the other. They tumble to the sand and you can see just like from this distance, it looks like people

[01:46:39] in the throes of passion, delectation, erotic Congress. And then one of them stands up just licking her lips as she walks towards the water's edge to further partake in the Eucharist. Help! Oh, thank God they're coming.

[01:47:03] And that perspective that we saw was your perspective as you see her walk into the water. You're so close to the shore now. Oh, thank God. Auburn. Auburn. Auburn. Come on. Mizzou's there too. Mizzou Auburn! Yes, Mizzou. Oh no, wait. Mizzou was a little weird. What? I know there's something- Don't say that about Mizzou. She's gonna lose. No, no, no, no. Well, yeah, but she's, no, she's got like some, she's covered in blood, okay? I'm starting to feel a little woozy. Am I? No.

[01:47:33] Do I look okay? Yeah, you- Does she have like a huge chunk out of like her jaw? That's fun. Well, I- Roll- Okay, yeah, yeah. I'm sorry. You were attacked by a swarm, a school of these things under the water. Um, and they, they, they bit down. You look great. Uh, what's, how many, how many hit points do you have? Left? Eleven. I'm gonna roll something.

[01:48:02] You always do that voice when you lie. No. What do you mean? Make a constitution roll for me. Uh-oh. Fail. No. You were saying about how you felt woozy? I feel a little tired, Willow. I feel like- No, no, stay with me. Stay with me. The weight on your braid becomes nearly unbearable as your sister loses consciousness, having taken a major wound to her leg.

[01:48:28] And as the leg kicks backwards, you can see that her calf muscle is flayed to the bone. Its teeth have chewed it away down to the very base. You can see it's, it's like scarred and slashed. And then her eyes roll back in her head and the weight of her is pulling you down. Wake me up when we get there. Oh, Zinny Zinny, no, don't leave me. What's important to this sorority?

[01:48:58] Survival or sisterhood? Oh, God. Oh. Bubble. Bubble. She always wanted to be with God.

[01:49:22] Time I let her. What are you going to do to get away? Okay. Okay. Can I sleight of hand unbraid real quick? Sleight of hand seems like kind of, actually, yes, of course. Why not? Dexterous, nimble fingers.

[01:49:54] I got a 50. Okay. 50% chance of success. So 45. You feel your hair just slickly working it wet as you're being pulled down and underwater. And then it goes loose.

[01:50:16] And the last thing you see are your sister's eyes descending into the depths and joining many, many others. Let's go. What do you do when you land gasping on the shore? Mizzou's there. Mizzou is there. Mizzou is there. Oh, my God. Covered in blood. Oh, good. You made it. It's time to go to the party.

[01:50:49] I never thought I'd see this, but I think I'm partied out. But it's been so many hours and we haven't eaten yet. I'm actually not that hungry. We have snacks at home. Well, those aren't the kind of snacks I'm looking for. Mizzou, what are you looking for? I'm looking for one thing only.

[01:51:16] A certain part of anatomy that will save my thirst. I don't care what you're into. It's fine. What? You can want whatever you want. Well, I do. What do you want? I want a finger length belly button. And you're aware of like the presence of those. Maybe those guys are still off to your right there. But your sorority sister is right here.

[01:51:44] Are you going to attack or are you going to seek out Keith? Keith. Keith. Keith. Keith is probably partying over there by the fire. Oh, that is so far away. Let me see your belly button. Believe me. You don't want to see my belly button. No, no, no. I can't believe it's coming down to this. Okay.

[01:52:15] I am naked though, so you can't. It's plainly visible. You know, in the cave I was overcome by a spirit. Said we were all one. And I ate of the flesh of some creatures in there. And yeah, now I really, yeah, I'm kind of full. But for dessert I do want that outie belly button. And so I will not attack my sorority sister. Down in that cave there were others. There were, you met them down there in the shadows. They were calling to you. Sharp teeth. Glistening eyes.

[01:52:46] Members of the congregation. And you go off in search. Having emerged from the belly button. Having emerged from this cavern. This omphalos on the coast of Delaware. You have moved from an outie in search. You moved from an innie on the way to an outie. Are you going to, what do you do? Okay, bye girl.

[01:53:17] And let us just imagine Keith there. His outie. His outie. Bobbing up and down. As he's running. Right behind him. The gnashing teeth of Mizzou. A hunter of big game. But there on the trail. In the night.

[01:53:47] Nude is the day she was born. Covered in salt water and brine. Her hair ripped and torn. One final bowling pin. Standing upright. The one survivor. The final girl. Of the Miskatonic. Spring break. That's our show everybody.
